Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rifat Reşatoğlu

Rifat Reşatoğlu received his BSc. (Civil Enginneering, 1997) and MSc. (Structure, 1999) degrees from Eastern Mediterranean University and his Ph.D.(Structural Mechanics, 2005) from Çukurova University. He continued his studies as a research assistant at Eastern Mediterranean University until he completed his graduate studies, and worked as a part-time lecturer at Cyprus International University between 1999-2001. After completing his Ph.D. in 2005, he then joined the Department of Civil Engineering at the Near East University. His research interests include advanced strength of materials, stress analysis, wind loads, coupled shear walls, design of reinforced concrete structures, materials science, and thin-walled beams. In connection with Vlasov's theory of thin-walled beams, topics related to the static analysis of non-planar and asymmetrical coupled shear walls are included in his field of study. Rifat Reşatoğlu has been a member of Cyprus Turkish Chambers of Civil Engineers since 1997.  He has had many articles published in international refereed journals and papers presented at international academic conferences and symposiums. In 2010, he attended various meetings abroad representing the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Civil Engineers at the European Council of Civil Engineers. He was a member of the visa bureau specialization board. He is a member of the Chamber of Civil Engineers Earthquake Committee and also continues his duty on the Earthquake Engineering Committee of the Presidency of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, representing the Near East University. He is currently a full-time Lecturer at Near East University, is married, and has two children.
